Description
Antique lace christening baptismal dress and matching lace slip. Finest batiste embroidered lace used for this dress and slip. Both pieces are snow white. The dress has long sleeves that measure 4.5 inches long from the top of the shoulder to the edge of the sleeve. The sleeves, the neck, and the empire waist have an edge of small lace embellishment. This is doubled on the edge of the sleeve. The empire waist measures 9.5 inches across, so the measurement around the empire waist is 19 inches. The measurement of the dress down the center back is a full 44 inches. The dress opens in the back, and it has a ribbon closure. The matching slip is sleeveless. It opens in the back, and like many antique slips, it does not have a button or ribbon closure. The slip measures 21 inches around at the empire waist, and it is also 44 inches long down the center back. These two pieces are constructed from the same fine lace with a wide embroidered border at the bottom and a deeply scalloped embroidered edge. We have gently hand soaked, line dried, and pressed. We do see one spot on the fully gathered skirt of the slip. Both pieces are constructed from finest batiste lace, as beautiful now as when it was first made a century ago. The second, third, and last slides show the dress with the slip under it. Dress and slip will need to be pressed from folding for shipment. SPInternational sales only through EBay Global Shipping.
