Back in the day
drug stores were more like variety stores, they sold many things, including pet fish, like Gold fish.  BUT they
also sold leech's
for use in connection with blood work, blood letting, bleeding, so in the
ancient traditional apothecary shops, leech's were possibly kept or sold in a bowl
like this.

Condition
:  This bowl is in CLEAN STURDY condition.  It maybe has a trace of water stain and wear from use, mainly just on the very base.   NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc.   See pictures for better idea of overall condition

Gold Fish, Siamese Fighting Fish, even Guppies, as there was no television, radio, internet, or cell phones to keep a person entertained.   Even Leech's were kept and sold in early-day apothecary shops.  The bowl here is a
