Hot on the heels of the news that Jaguar was the
highest ranked European luxury car maker
    and
third overall in J.D. Power’s 2004 Initial Quality Study
comes a strengthened 2005 model product line-up offering significant enhancements to all four Jaguar model ranges – X-TYPE sedan, S-TYPE sedan, XJ sedan and XK sports cars.
    Jaguar’s best-selling, all-wheel-drive
    X-TYPE
premium compact range will be poised to reach more diverse buyers with the new introductions for 2005MY – Sportwagon, Sport and VDP Edition.
Style-conscious buyers with an active lifestyle and greater versatility needs will appreciate the new X-TYPE Sportwagon which offers enhanced functionality without compromising Jaguar style and driving dynamics.
Those craving sporty performance and athletic style will prefer the X-TYPE Sport, which features a more aggressive body and contemporary body style to match its performance-oriented features:
sport-tuned suspension, deep front spoiler and optional sleek carbon fiber trim paired with contemporary Alcantara™ seat fabric.
The X-TYPE VDP Edition will appeal to those seeking enhanced luxury and technology with a premium sound system, dual stage heated seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, rich burl walnut interior trim and more.
    The premium mid-sized Jaguar
    S-TYPE
continues to catch admiring glances with stylish looks that are updated for 2005.
A new design that updates the S-TYPE and visually ‘lifts’ the tail section, lightweight aluminum hood for improved dynamics and tighter fit lines further hone this sedan into a segment leader.
Reaching a new level of luxury, the new S-TYPE VDP Edition and the available option of an aluminum fascia design in lieu of traditional wood on Sport and supercharged S-TYPE R, will delight consumers.
The mighty 390bhp S-TYPE R is also reduced to less than ,000 and now squares off against the normally aspirated V8-engined derivatives of the competitor brands, but with performance that exceeds the segment.
    In 2004, the all-new, aluminum-intensive
    Jaguar XJ
sedan was introduced, and in 2005, the luxury sedan range is further enhanced by the introduction of three new models specifically planned to exploit the new Long Wheelbase (LWB) chassis.
The most spacious and longest production Jaguars ever built – the new XJ LWB – headline Jaguar North America’s expanded model line-up for 2005.
Introduced as the top of the long wheelbase model range, the stunning XJ Super V8 becomes Jaguar’s new luxury flagship, combining the long wheelbase body format with Jaguar’s mighty 390bhp supercharged AJ-V8 powertrain, a plethora of intuitive technology, craftsmanship features and an extensive standard equipment list that easily beats the offerings of the competition.
Rounding out the 2005 line-up, the iconic
    Jaguar
    XK
sports car range has received attention from the pen of the Jaguar design team in Coventry, retaining the basic character of the coupe and convertible XK8/XKR while adding a more modern theme.
These new 2005 XKs fine-tune a design that has been in-market for eight years, proving the ‘rightness’ of their original design.
The 2005 XKs are now more assertive and stand out by adopting more aggressive styling accents, while a convenient new Automatic Speed Limiter feature becomes standard fit on all models.

Jaguar’s X-TYPE is broadening its appeal with three new models designed to reach a more diverse range of consumers – the functionally stylish Sportwagon, performance-oriented Sport and luxurious VDP Edition.
    Jaguar’s first-ever production wagon – the
    X-TYPE 3.0 Sportwagon
    – goes on sale in the U.S. in November 2004, providing extra versatility in a stylish, dynamic package.
Based on the all-wheel-drive X-TYPE 3.0-liter sedan, the new
    X-TYPE Sportwagon
revises the body style and structure from the B-pillars back – including rear doors and roof – for enhanced versatility while maintaining the unrivaled combination of luxury and style.
    Jaguar’s X-TYPE Sport
is also one to watch with a tougher, more aggressive and athletic look for 2005. Available from November 2004, the new X-TYPE 3.0-liter Sport features a deeper front spoiler, a dramatic, black upper mesh grille and lower mesh infill grille, new lower rear valance and new side sill extensions.
Other exterior changes include new exhaust tailpipe finishers and bold, 18-inch ‘Aruba’ alloy rims.
The sporting theme continues inside where, for the first time, the traditional wood can be replaced if optioned with a sleek carbon fiber fascia and paired with sporty, suede-like Alcantara™ seating surfaces, giving the interior a refreshed and more contemporary look.
Also, joining the range, the 2005 3.0-liter
    Jaguar X-TYPE VDP Edition
brings legendary Jaguar craftsmanship and quality to the best-selling compact sports sedan.
Standard features include polished burl walnut veneer on the fascia, steering wheel and doors, and leather seats trimmed with contrast piping.
Both the 2005 X-TYPE Sport and VDP Edition are powered by Jaguar’s 227bhp (SAE) V6 24-valve ‘AJ-V6’ transversely mounted engine.

New features available across the new S-TYPE range include 18-inch alloy wheels, Front Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Alert and greater choice of interior color and trim options.
    While the 2005 S-TYPE range will continue to comprise of 3.0 V6, 4.2 V8 and supercharged S-TYPE R 4.2 V8 models, there will be a luxury addition – the S-TYPE VDP Edition.

Longest wheelbase and overall length in class delivers exceptional interior space
    §
Expands XJ range from three to five models – standard wheelbase XJ8 and XJR, plus long wheelbase XJ8 L, Vanden Plas and Super V8
    §
New Super V8 combines long wheelbase body with supercharged 4.2-liter V8, adding unique luxury and technology features
    §
Lightweight aluminum construction ensures athletic performance and agile handling, indistinguishable from standard wheelbase models
Unveiled at the 2004 New York International Auto Show, Jaguar’s new XJ Long Wheelbase (LWB) is the most spacious production Jaguar ever built.
Stretching the wheelbase and overall length by five inches to 205.3 inches, the 2005 XJ LWB delivers exceptional interior space, while still being compact enough for everyday driving.
The XJ LWB is the longest production Jaguar ever – 2.2 inches longer than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and 1.8 inches longer than the long wheelbase BMW 7-series.
While the length has increased, the aluminum-intensive construction of the XJ LWB has kept the increase in overall weight to only 53 pounds, allowing both performance and best-in-class fuel economy to remain virtually unchanged from the standard wheelbase XJ sedans.
Headlining the 2005 Jaguar line-up will be a stunning, new flagship – the Super V8 – combining long wheelbase interior space with the mighty 390bhp (SAE) supercharged powertrain from the current high-performance XJR.
When the car goes on sale in the U.S. on September 1, it will expand the current XJ range from three to five distinct model derivatives.
In addition to the new Super V8, the 2005 Long Wheelbase range will also include an XJ8 L and Vanden Plas, both powered by the normally-aspirated 294bhp (SAE) 4.2-liter AJ-V8.
Prices start at ,495 for the XJ8 L – that’s just ,000 more than the standard wheelbase XJ8 – rising to ,995 for the flagship Super V8.
BOLDER LOOK FOR 2005 JAGUAR XK
    At-A-Glance Highlights:
    §
New exterior styling gives bolder, more aggressive stance
    §
New front bumper with lower intake opening, deeper rear bumper and side sills gives a more powerful look
    §
Larger exhaust tailpipe finishers for XK8 models and new quad-pipe tailpipes for supercharged XKR
    §
Driver-controlled Automatic Speed Limiter becomes standard on all models
    §
    Three new multi-spoke wheel styles
Jaguar has given its legendary XK sports car a fresh, dynamic look for 2005.
On sale since June 2004, the re-styled XK8 and supercharged XKR received revised front- and rear-end styling to give a more muscular stance.
The subtle yet significant upgrades include a new front bumper with a deeper ‘mouth’, new XKR mesh grille and new XK8 full-width splitter both with a new lower trapezoid-shaped air intake. XKR models get a new, dramatic-looking, full-width mesh grille.
New side sill extensions along with a new rear bumper, also help give the car a more aggressive, ground-hugging stance, as well as improve the car’s aerodynamic efficiency.
The 294bhp (SAE) XK8 models – coupe and convertible – also feature new, larger exhaust tailpipe finishers, while the supercharged 390bhp (SAE) XKR gets new quad pipes. New-styled XKR rear spoiler is also fitted.
New wheel designs complete the update, with three new multi-spoke options offered in the form of 18-inch ‘Aris’, 19-inch ‘Atlas’ and 20-inch BBS ‘Sepang’ rims.
