Description
Here is solid and of highest quality sterling silver fork (not spoon) from South Dakota dating to years around 1900 featuring handle with many super detailed images on the front and back of handle. Front starts with detailed images of state seal with man working soil with plow pulled by horse, ship and mountains in background, below miner working with a pick below banner across reading S. DAKOTA, then side view of sheep and wheat plant down the handle. On the back of the handle it features various Indian symbols: teepee, canoe, tomahawk, papoose, pipe, etc. Measures 6-3/8"long (160 mm) and in excellent condition, feels solid, weights 35.4 grams. It is marked STERLING and has hallmark with the old mark of H on a pennant for Mechanics Sterling Company, which was subsidiary of Watson Newell Co.
