Historic Disneyland Auctions by Saturday's Toys presents...
a classic issue of the Disneyland Line cast member weekly newsletter
July 20, 1978; Vol. 10, No. 29
Cover features the debut of Disneyland's newest restaurant, the "American Egg House" sponsored by the American Egg Board and opening to the public on Friday, July 14, 1978. This was redesigned in the space formerly occupied by the Hills Bros. Coffee Garden... a favorite stop for Walt Disney when he just wanted a quick cup of coffee before starting his walk through the park. The popular omelet restaurant was among the most popular breakfast eateries in the park for several years... though their inability to draw the lunch and evening crowds somewhat limited their profits and the restaurant eventually closed on Sept. 30, 1983. The "Town Square Cafe" returned to the location for several years but eventually was bumped to create an expanded shopping area after the Wurlitzer exhibit closed.
Cover features chef Howard Helmer (demonstrating cook from the American Egg Board) as he broke the Guinness World Record by cooking 217 two-egg omelets in only 30 minutes.
Filled with photos and featuring a report from Disneyland Ambassador Raellen Lescault (later hired as a show set designer at WED Enterprises / Walt Disney Imagineering).
"It Takes People" includes profiles of Art Bartner (musical director of the All American College Band); Larry Wilker (Disney Street Theatre Players); and John Howell (director of the All-American College Singers).
A classic salute to Disneyland in 1978!

Saturday’s Toys and Disneyana Auctions
was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and Disney historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first Disneyana specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 10,000 coveted Disney treasures since then, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers, collectors and friends throughout the world with a shared interest in the preservation of authentic and accurate Disney history.
Today, online offerings of archival Disneyana keepsakes are presented in celebration of the extended times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately known as "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a tip of the cap to the Sherman Brothers):
"Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
