Disneyland Henry Fonda Feb 1971 Super 8 Commercial Walt Disney Cast Newsletter
Historic Disneyland Auctions by Saturday's Toys presents...
a hard-to-find issue of the Disneyland Line from Friday, February 12, 1971
Cover features Hollywood legend Henry Fonda (and Academy Award winning actor for "On Golden Pond") with character actor Steve Franken (1932 - 2012) in a commercial filmed at Disneyland for GAF.  Though the newsletter references GAF color print film, the commercial actually promotes GAF Super 8 movie cameras.  The commercial can actually be seen online at the usual video sites... under the title "GAF Super-8 at Disneyland (1971).mp4"  Franken was also featured in "Follow Me, Boys!" and television programs including Perry Mason, The Patty Duke Show, Bewitched, Mary Tyler Moore, Batman, Mission Impossible, and dozens more iconic series.
Features the standings for the Disneyland Intra Mural Basketball league... and lots of other park sports updates.
Historically, the issue also lists the names of all cast members (including Owen and Dolly Pope) being transferred in January to Walt Disney World in Florida... in preparation for their October 1971 grand opening.  Also notes the first annual stockholder meeting ever held at the Los Angeles Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Announces that nine Disneyland costumed characters were to be featured on the "Jim Nabors Hour" on CBS; Thurs. Feb. 11, 1971... including Brer Bear and Brer Fox, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Pinocchio, Dopey and Dumbo.  (Also featured on that night's program was comedy legend Phyllis Diller.)
8.5" x 11"; 8 pages; stapled in upper left corner

    Saturday’s Toys and Disneyana Auctions
was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and Disney historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first Disneyana specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 10,000 coveted Disney treasures since then, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers, collectors and friends throughout the world with a shared interest in the preservation of authentic and accurate Disney history.
Today, online offerings of archival Disneyana keepsakes are presented in celebration of the extended times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately known as "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a tip of the cap to the Sherman Brothers):
"Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
