1955-1956 DISNEYLAND COLLECTORS PLATE - Copyright WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS!
It features SLEEPING BEAUTY'S CASTLE on the front!! This Walt Disney Collectible is Rare and Very Hard to Find!!
Made by Eleanore Welborn, Art Productions Inc., Monterey California. After doing research, I believe this plate was made/sold between 1955 & 1956, but I can't guarantee it, as there is no date on the plate. It also said that this is a "Ribbon Plate" meaning that ribbon can be woven through the edges of the plate. This small plate measures approx. 6 1/4" in diameter.

I've had a knowledgeable buyer reach out and this is what they noted: "Based on the logo on the back of the plate, this is most likely 1956. All E. Welborn that I know of prior to 1956, has her name and the company in just text. Also accompanied by the ASI marking. Not the pallet and paint brushes."
History: "The earliest manufacturer of Ceramic souvenirs for Disneyland was a little company located in Monterey California, Eleanor Welborn Art Productions. Started in her garage like so many California ceramic companies of the time period, Welborn in 1955 secured the license to produce souvenir ceramic plates, tea cups, salt and pepper shakers, ashtrays and other souvenirs for the new Disneyland park. Not only are the items with the Welborn mark definitely from the first couple of years of Disneyland's operation, the souvenirs also used the imagineering pre opening artwork for the transfer and graphics. This plate has the Welborn mark on the back, some also have a stamp for ASI (American Souvenir Incorporated) which seems to have been created just to supply souvenirs to Disneyland. Within a couple of years, Walt Disney was able to bring the merchandising into the company and under his control. And when that happened, Welborn lost the license."
Awesome condition! It was never "used," only displayed in a china cabinet. This plate has no noted flaws, besides slight rubbing (missing color) to the silver lining of the plate. No chips, cracks or crazing! Please see the pictures for more details. I've added a picture of every side of the plate, with and without the flash.
