    Description

BLACK BOY EATING A WATERMELON TAMPA FLORIDA STERLING SILVER SOUVENIR SPOON.
Beautiful figural sterling silver spoon from Tampa Florida dating back to years around 1900 featuring figural Black man or boy eating watermelon with curly hair under his hat and thick lips. This spoon is an example of negative black stereotyping common at the turn of century (1900’s) that African American people were confronted with. In the bowl embossed is writing TAMPA, FLA. It measures 3 3/8" (87 mm) in length and is in excellent condition. On the back marked STERLING along with Watson & Newell Co. markings (crown W lion). Shipping on multiple purchases are gladly combined.
