    DESCRIPTION:
A JAGUAR IS BUILT BY THE MOST SOPHISTICATED MACHINE EVER DEVISED. THE HUMAN HAND.
In certain areas of car-making, machines cannot completely duplicate the sensitive hands and the practised eye of the craftsman.
Upon examining a Jaguar, you might guess the lustrous walnut dashboard is cut, lacquered and polished all by hand. Or that the flawless Scandinavian leather hides on the seats have been matched, cut and fitted by hand.
You might not guess, however, that every legendary Jaguar engine is assembled entirely by hand.
Or that every Jaguar crankshaft is machined to infinitesimal tolerances totally by hand.
In fact, the building of a Jaguar XJ Series III requires the human hand to perform more operations than, probably, any other production motor-car on earth. Small wonder every Jaguar takes 220 hours to construct - six or seven times as long as many mass-produced cars. But then, a Jaguar is not designed to be assembled quickly.
Rather, it is designed to be a Jaguar. Uncompromisingly, without regard for mass-production shortcuts.
“To say we are obsessed with quality is an understatement” -
JOHN EGAN. CHAIRMAN JAGUAR CARS. DECEMBER 15.1980
The 1981 Jaguar Series III carries no optional
equipment. None. The factory installed air conditioning with automatic temperature control is standard. The stereo AM/FM station seeking radio and cassette sound system is standard. The adjustable lumbar support and the electric height adjustment on the drivers seat are standard. The power windows, the fully reclining leather seats, the alloy wheels, the electric aerial and the new power sun roof are all standard. So great is Jaguars confidence in the Series III that for 1981 models the basic 12-month unlimited warranty is extended to cover the power train for a total of two years or 50,000 km, whichever comes first,

    THE REMARKABLE 1981 JAGUAR
BRED TO BE THE BEST JAGUAR IN HISTORY
For more than fifty years, the superb thoroughbred motor cars of Jaguar have made history on the world’s race tracks and in the annals of classic automotive design This newest Jaguar, the Series III, also makes history, simply by being the best Jaguar sedan ever built
The Jaguar Series III sedans are powered by the most advanced version of Jaguars legendary 4.2 litre double overhead-cam Six and the smooth championship winning 5.3 litre V-12. Electronically fuel injected, these vividly responsive power plants also have thoroughly dependable electronic ignition systems helping to make these latest Jaguars the most reliable ever.
Like all Jaguars, the Series III moves, handles and responds with a special grace. Four wheel independent suspension gives the car a remarkable feel for the road, regardless of the quality of the road surface. A very precise rack and pinion power steering system assures positive directional response. Power disc brakes on all four wheels stop the Jaguar decisively.
"To say we are obsessed with quality is an understatement” -
JOHN EGAN. CHAIRMAN JAGUAR CARS. DECEMBER 15.1980.
Bred in a tradition of rich but understated luxury, the Jaguar Series III provides both an elegant ambience and
the latest in electronic technology. The classic Jaguar luxury is reflected in such things as the dashboard veneered in rare walnut burl, the seat facings covered in supple topgrain leather and the Jaguars profound silence in motion.
The latest technology is apparent in the self-adjusting heating and air conditioning system, power drivers seat, power sideview mirrors, stereo AM/FM radio with station-seeking tuner and cassette, an antenna that disappears when the engine is turned off, cruise control, electric sunroof, and alloy wheels: all standard.
So great is Jaguar’s confidence in the Series III that for 1981 models the basic 12-month unlimited warranty is extended to cover the power train for a total of two years or 50,000 km., whichever comes first
Now, more than ever before, the Jaguar may deserve the title, “The finest production sedan on earth!”
Jaguar Series III: XJ6 and XJ12. From about ,000 to ,000*

NOW, FOR THE BEST JAGUAR EVER BUILT,
THE BEST WARRANTY JAGUAR EVER OFFERED
The concept of excellence is nothing new to Jaguar. And because this Series Ili Jaguar is the finest-and the strongest we have ever built, Jaguar has extended its basic 12 month limited warranty on 1981 models to cover the power train for a full two years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is an uncommon warranty. But then, the Series III is an uncommon motorcar.
Here is a car that is inspected continuously during its assembly. Once assembled, each Jaguar is then individually road tested and any faults corrected. It is then road tested again before being certified acceptable for sale. Yet no description of Jaguar’s quality control system can possibly
convey the sheer excellence of the Jaguar in motion.
The Series III provides both performance and comfort. Its engine is the electronically fuel injected Jaguar double overhead cam six. Four wheel independent suspension, power rack and pinion steering, alloy wheels and four wheel power disc brakes make the handling astonishingly precise.
Inside, the Series III presents a depth of luxury that pampers its driver and passengers. There is rare wood, rich leather, fine carpeting and a deep silence in motion. Automatic heating
and air conditioning maintain your preferred temperature continuously, regardless of the weather outside. There is a power sunroof, power door locks and windows. The car is also fitted with an AM/FM radio with signal seeking tuner and cassette player and cruise control to add to your comfort on long trips. All standard.
If you are considering a fine luxury car this year, make a point of driving this best of all Jaguars. For the name of your nearest dealer where you can obtain full warranty details and a test drive, call these numbers toll-free.
